Well, I guess it is time for another update. This is week three of my job at Predictive, and today is my sixth wedding anniversary.
This is the first anniversary that I have spent away from Andrea, and I’m kinda bummed about that. I can rationalize it that yesterday was the end of the month and the end of the quarter, so as an accountant she is very busy today, but it just doesn’t seem right. I hope that I never have to miss another one (considering the next two fall on Friday and Sunday).
Sortova Farm, attempt number 1, is for sale. We have decided that as nice as the lot in Eagles Ridge is, we would like to find a larger one, perhaps one with more pasture. We are also looking for a turn-key farm that is within the area and within our price range.
That could be a sticking point. We looked at one house this weekend in Henderson that was simply gorgeous. 33+ acres of rolling pasture surrounded by woods, with the house on a hill overlooking a 3 acre pond. Unfortunately, there were too many “toos”: too big, too much and too far away.
On the work front, although I hate being away from home so much, I do like what I am doing. One of the things that they use a lot here is the Instant Messenger from AOL. This free client allows you to chat with other people over the network, and since I spend almost all day logged in, it is one of the best ways to reach me. Load the client on your system and look for my screen name: sortova.
Just one more week before I go to four day weeks. I can’t wait. My weekends fly by, and I would love to have an extra day.
I had lunch with Howard Deshong and his wife Jeannette this week. We went to a place called Mango Mike’s, which had a Caribbean flavour. The food was okay, but the company was outstanding. Howard Cooper Deshong, IV, will be along this summer.
I hit the Big Game lottery this week. The jackpot was over $100 million. I spent one half of my winnings on a big Coke and the other dollar I stuck in my pocket. Friday’s jackpot is over $140 million.
Well, I am getting over a cold, so my motivation to write is dwindling. This weekend is yard work on Saturday, both at home and at Eagles Ridge (to get it ready to sell), and then Easter Sunday with my folks in Asheboro. I’m looking forward to a home cooked meal, especially my Mom’s cooking.
