California Dreaming

I am writing this from Scott Gorsuch’s study in Oakland, where it is cool and raining. He and Renee were kind enough to host me this week while I was in town visiting a client. This makes about 4 or 5 trips I owe them.

This is my second trip to California in as many weeks. Ahead of me I have Albuquerque, Salt Lake City and San Antonio. First quarter is our slow quarter.

Last week we were in LA for a conference called SCaLE. It was a lot of fun, and David Hustace came out with me. His son Jason lives there and we got to spend a couple of evenings with him.

On the first night he has us meet him at Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles in Hollywood.

It was a small joint with a real “soul food” flair. I asked the waitress about the most popular dish and she said “The Number One” which was two waffles, a chicken breast and a wing. Weird combo but it tasted pretty good.
