I can’t believe this week has flown by so quickly. Tomorrow begins my next three week sprint and I’m not ready for it. I’m teaching an OpenNMS class this week, and then I leave for Europe for two weeks. I return on the 23rd at 5pm and have dinner reservations for 7pm. (sigh)
Should probably move those out a little.
The week started out slowly enough. Antonio was still in town so we got together for dinner at the Brewery Sunday night. Andrea was working and couldn’t make it, but Ben and Cynthia came up from Willow Spring. It was fun.
On Monday Antonio headed back to Italy and the work week started. I have so much to do between work and the farm that sometimes I just have to divide my time. On Thursday I took the morning off to spread some [crush and run][2] to form the base of the new carport.
“Crush and run” is gravel mixed in limestone powder, and it looks a little like dry concrete. We needed to put some of this down to form a solid base for the carport, and it involved spreading it out and then going over it with a plate tamper that I rented from Siler City. We bought 18 tons of it, but that didn’t cover it all:
so we ended up ordering another 10 tons to finish it out:
Between deliveries I went into the office for a few hours. I also spend all day Saturday there getting ready for this class. We have 10 people coming in from a company called Sensus, so it promises to be a busy week. I like teaching but I hate the restrictions that it puts on my day.
On top of everything else, Kali is experiencing a false pregnancy. So far it is kind of cute. She gathers up her toys and makes a little nest, but she also whines a little which can get annoying.
Saturday night we went back to the Brewery (I met Andrea directly from work) thus going full circle.
