I’m on the road again, this time sunny Chicago.
Well, it’s rainy and cold, and I’m in a suburb of Chicago, but you get the point.
This is the second trip I’ve taken since the ear surgery, and this flight went great. I did take my Actifed and chew my gum, and my ears were fine.
I did remember ear plugs, as the child a few seats ahead of me screamed bloody murder for two solid hours, so that was a bonus. And it reminded me of a “peeve” I forgot from my previous post.
Mushrooms: While I am the last person who should talk, seeing as I could stand to lose about 30 pounds, Americans are fat. And the largest Americans seem to hang out in airports.
There are rules now that large people have to buy two seats in order to travel on fully booked planes. This has caused a lot of controversy, but since I have to fly a lot I’m all for it.
Now some folks can manage to squeeze that big behind into the little airplane seat, but it kinds causes the rest of them to bloom up over the handles – kinda like a mushroom.
I find religion on planes, and pray that no one like that sits next to me (as I like the window seat and it can get very claustrophobic when that happens).
On a related note, I flew Southwest today and I saw a lady get the “special” pre-board treatment, and as far as I could tell there was nothing about her that should have required it – except maybe the fact that she was wearing four inch stiletto heels.
“Hey lady, wear sensible shoes, or if you want to pre-board, bring along a screaming child”.
In a more serious vein, Andrea had a bit of a shock going to work this morning. The entrance of her office building was swarming with police … and two bodies.
Seems that there was a murder/suicide this morning. It’s really sad. I can’t say I’ve been near a dead body outside of a funeral home, so seeing one on the way to work would be freaky.
