I travel a lot, to wonderful and amazing places. This week I’m in Ephrata, Washington, home of the Riverdogs baseball camp. To get here, I flew from Raleigh to Chicago, Chicago to Seattle and then took a puddle jumper from Seattle to Spokane (pronounced “Spo-can”).
Then I hopped into my rented Subaru Outback (a really nice car, actually) and drove the two hours through big sky country to arrive at my home for the week – the Ephrata Travelodge.

Now it is known to get hot in this part of the world (although the forecast this week is mild – much cooler than back home). Luckily, I have a state of the art climate control system:
I especially like the 2×4 propping the whole thing up. Now, I can always consider opening a window. Of course, it appears that, at least in the bathroom, anyone can consider opening the window since it doesn’t lock. This makes me a little nervous since I’m on the ground floor, so I took almost MacGyver-esque steps to protect myself.
On the upside, the Internet bandwidth rocks for a hotel like this:
especially the upstream.
Well, I’ll keep my valuables with me and tough it out. It does have a little refrigerator, which is a plus, and I believe the client will be cool. Also, the client site is right behind the motel, so I can walk.
