Going to the Land Down Under (part 2)

Just trying to catch up, story-wise.

After the footy game on Saturday (some pics are in the gallery) I got some sleep and now am pretty much on Australia time. On Sunday we drove out to “the bush” to visit Andrew, Euan’s boss’s boss.

Andrew has a great place on 5 acres out in the country. We cooked out on the grill and had a pretty relaxing afternoon. It’s pretty weird since it gets dark here about 5:30 pm.

Euan and Suzie dropped me off at the train station and I headed back toward the city. It was pretty empty, but when I got out at Spencer Street station I ran into a huge crowd. It seems the Australia/Scotland rugby game had just let out, and Australia had won, so most were in high spirits.

As I walked toward the hotel, a young lady grabbed my arm and started talking to me about the game. I told her that I had just got off the train, and knew nothing about what was going on. She then told me a few things about it, and then skipped back to the group of people she was with, including her huge, rugby loving boyfriend.

These Aussies, so friendly.

At the next intersection, I found myself in a group of Brisbane Lions fans, and I was wearing my Essendon Bombers jacket (the Bombers were creamed by the Lions). So they all broke out into the Brisbane fight song. It was fun, yet kinda surreal.

I headed back up to the hotel, and got some sleep.
