HD Goodness

Ever since I got my HDTV last year I’ve been dissatisfied with the reception I get from our current antenna. I get most of the stations I am interested in fairly well … unless it is windy, or rainy, or sometimes sunny or if the moon is full. It seemed rather random how well it worked.

We also couldn’t get NBC. That would have bothered me if I had been in the country for the Super Bowl (I watched it in Italy) but I did get upset when the single started to go during the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship game.

I tried a number of things. I tried a different antenna. I tried moving the antenna we had higher. Nothing seemed to work.

So I did a Google search on “HD antenna Pittsboro NC” and found a business called “Connections” that was local. Today a guy named Trace came out and mounted a fancy 8-bay Channel Master antenna on the highest part of the roof, and after we spent hours to find a bad crimp on a connector I am now basking in glorious multi-channel HD.

I can get NBC as well as my favorite local news station [WRAL][1] (which I used to be able to get but then the signal degraded for some reason due to the digital switchover that got pushed out). Plus the antenna, which is only about 3 feet square, doesn’t look too bad on the house.

I still don’t think I’m going to start watching Heroes again, though.
