I went to the NC School of Science and Math and I just noticed that the old “Alumni World” website has been replaced by “Alumni Connections“.
The new site is very slick, probably because it is a service provided by the commercial company iModules. As such, it’s a little less personal than the old site, and it took me awhile to get in to the system.
That was actually one of my complaints for the old system. I was the joker who added Bill Clinton to the Class of ’85 page, so there was no way to verify the identity of the person listed on a given page, and I didn’t like that so much.
But this system was a little more complex than I expected. I went to “First Time Login”, found myself (and oh I’ve been searching) and then I was asked for my Constituent ID.
I didn’t know I had one. In order to get the ID it had the helpful instruction of “contact NCSSM”.
Well, the person I knew who could help me was Therese Taxis, so I called her at the school and left a message. She rang me back with my ID and we had a nice chat. If you are an alum and want your Constituent ID, drop her an e-mail and she’ll get it right to ya..
The next thing I wanted to do was add a photo to my “Personal Page”. C’mon, photos are great – we all want to see who still has hair and to count the extra chins.
However, after I added mine (you have to create a Photo Album, upload a picture and then check the box at the bottom to use the picture as your Profile Photo) there was the word “UNVERIFIED” in bold next to it and it didn’t show up.
I guess they are censoring the content, and someone from iModules has to approve the pic before they show it. Oh well, good thing I didn’t upload my Annie Leibovitz nude (you know, the one with the melon and the can of sardines).
