Well, it’s Thursday night here, how time flies.
The latter part of the week has been a bit more like work, especially as we get farther and father away from last weekend, the footy game and the barbie. It’s nice, though, ’cause it means Andrea will soon be on her way out.
The last few days have been spent in a police dispatch center.
They had quite a powerful system of maps for locating exactly where police are needed, and today we put it to good use: finding me a launderette.
I only brought one week of clothes for this trip, and the plan was to get them cleaned at the end of the week. The hotel wants AU$3.85 per pair of underwear, which is more than I paid for them, so I refuse to use the hotel’s laundry service.
Finding a coin laundry in South Melbourne is harder than you would think, there aren’t that many of them, but with Euan and Brian’s help (Brian also works at ECV) and the online yellow pages, we narrowed it down to a couple of candidates.
Then we went to a training workstation and put to use millions of dollars in computer technology to find a place for me to get the skid marks out of my undies.
It was pretty cool. Not only did we find one near the hotel, we could tell how far away it was (1.6km) and that it was next to a pub (so that I can refresh my thirst with a bit of … tea).
I’ve dropped a few more pics in the gallery and I’m sure to take more this weekend and next week. I’m off to crawl some alleys in search of an interesting place to eat dinner.
