There is a company in the building where my office is that does a lot of shipping, so they have a cardboard recycling dumpster out back. I order lots of stuff online, so I tend to have a lot of cardboard. Being the earth friendly dude I am, I recycle.
So I’m leaving the office today with two flattened cardboard boxes. As I’m walking toward the dumpster the wind picks up and blows one out of my hands. The next gust might blow it down the hill and off into the woods and I really didn’t sign up for chasing my trash that far.
I took off running to do the usual “stomp” maneuver to keep it from flying away – totally forgetting that the ground is still patchy with ice.
Wipeout.
This was my first fall in as long as I can remember. When I studied Chuong Nhu the one thing I really learned was how to keep my balance and it has served me well for years. Not today.
I wasn’t hurt to badly. The worst scrape was on my right hand little finger, which, believe it or not, is the only figure you really don’t need for playing guitar. That was mainly due to the fact that I was holding my cars keys in that hand and I didn’t let them drop.
And while we are on the subject, who in the world thinks up band aid packaging? The ones we have come in like a little roll, all attached, so while your trying to stop bleeding I guess you always have enough free hands to both separate one from the others and open the darn thing. Then it appears that ours is one brand where the little white paper bit that covers the adhesive does stick to the bandage if you happen to accidentally touch the sticky part to the wrong side.
