Please, oh please run out and rent “Easy A”. It is delightful.
Consider it a John Hughes film for the new millennium. And yes, there the obligatory dance number at the end. The dialog is really sharp, and it kind of reminds me of “Juno”.
Emma Stone is awesome. I thought she was good in “Zombieland” but she really shines here. I may even have to see her next film in the theatre. In this film she plays the cute, intelligent and devilishly witty girl I always wanted to meet in high school (and I did actually have the good fortune to meet a few times).
Part of the film is an indictment of the texting/Twitter/Facebook age. My favorite quote:
I don’t know what your generation’s fascination is with documenting your every thought… but I can assure you, they’re not all diamonds. “Roman is having an OK day, and bought a Coke Zero at the gas station. Raise the roof.” Who gives a rat’s ass?
Do yourself a favor and check it out.
