Wax On, Wax Off

Yesterday I spent most of the day inside. We had some severe weather come through, but all we got was about a third of an inch of rain. Apparently the storm intensified east of us and spawned a number of bad tornadoes.

Today, however, was beautiful and I wanted to spend it outside. We started the day by washing the cars, and Andrea wanted to put a coat of wax on her RX.

We put it in the shed, out of the sun, to let it cool while we took care of another chore: spreading weed killer in the pond.

We have a nice little pond on the farm, but for the last couple of years we have suffered with two types of plants – cattails and a lily pad called water shield. Both are hard to deal with, and at one time the water shield practically covered the surface of the pond.

We found a company that sells a pelleted weed killer and while expensive, it tends to do the best job. Now is the perfect time to spread it, so we took the horses off the pasture for a couple of days and Andrea got out in the kayak while I spread some from the shore (I always end up in the pond when I try to use the kayak).

Then it was fun time.

For Christmas I bought Andrea a polishing kit from [Griot’s Garage][1]. The founder is insane when it comes to detailing vehicles, and I figured his gear would be pretty good. Andrea’s car is a little big to do by hand, so we used both a six inch and a three inch orbital polisher to apply the show wax.

I think it turned out pretty well.
